reimagine and recreate a more inspired, authentic, and meaningful life.

Highly specialized professions and creative careers
have a lot in common.

Professionals and creatives have a certain drive to do well, to feel alive and connected, to contribute to the world, to leave behind a legacy.

There have been times that you’ve thought there is just so much you want to explore in life and not enough time to do it.

There are days your mind seems open to so many possibilities. You can see ways that what you do connects to areas that no one has considered before.

There have been times that you felt so excited and motivated about your life. You would be in your career or art even if you were not paid. It means that much to you.

That drive, passion, and commitment is what got you through the tough times.  It is one of a complex set of factors that has kept you doing what you do. You don’t want to give up.

But you may be in a time in your life where you are thinking: What’s happened here? Something has changed.

Your commitment to your profession, your art, may have taken time from loved ones. You may worry you can’t get that back.

But it’s hard to find the time to think about it because so many people depend on you. Or that next project must get finished. Or your schedule is just too tight to work in 45 minutes for yourself.

Or you may be thinking about a mid or later life career change, taking up a hobby or other past time…something to break this sameness you feel.

Or you may think, “I’m too old to make a change.” It may feel as if you are just plodding along in life. Running the numbers to find out when retirement is possible. Don’t kid yourself…

CHANGES ARE POSSIBLE.
YOU ARE ALIVE. YOU HAVE MUCH TO GIVE AND TO EXPERIENCE.

You may have been thinking that you would just like to talk to someone in confidence about your life, your dreams, or an important decision or project. Someone that is not invested in it all, who can offer alternative views, who can explore the deeper meanings with you. Consultation can help.

how psychotherapy can help

I am a psychologist engaged in the highly specialized and creative profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy; I know what it’s like to be in these thought spaces. It’s why I am committed to living a life with passion, creativity, and purpose.

It’s why I do what I do.

It’s why I believe that psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which provides a space for professionals and creatives to explore their own meanings in life, is so important…but at the same time can be difficult to find in our fast-paced, productivity-focused culture.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is often chosen by professionals and creatives exactly because it is an imaginative, growth-promoting, and experiential process.

At times, those in professional and creative careers feel as if their passion and drive, their daily work, or their form of creative expression has become “stuck”.  A project may be sitting for some time, or a career may feel on hold. Energy and creativity that once felt abundant now feels stalled or blocked.

A psychoanalytic psychotherapy approach honors where you are now, in your career or creative process. It does not push, or prod, or require a plan that must be completed in X amount of time. You have enough of that.

A psychoanalytic psychotherapy allows you to explore what is needed, to discover more about who you are and how your passion and creativity are expressed.

It honors that important passion and creative core in you to express itself in whatever form is needed. With respect for that process. Knowing that time, hustle and bustle, schedules that feel restrictive or even punitive, are not the factors that allow you do what you do.

It is all about holding a space and time for exploring your needs and desires.

It is about listening to your mind, your body, your spirituality, your soul, getting in touch with what is important to you so that your unique being comes alive, again.

It is about appreciating your unique way of being in the world.
